This week Casual took to the popular underground battle rap forum www.rmbva.com to give his take on the rankings in Canadian Battle Rap.

Tier 1 - Top Tier

Pat Stay

Pat is the only Canadian that can claim top tier. When he says he's basically responsible for KOTD being where they are now he's only half lying. The only guy that gets mentioned in basically all circles of battle rap, the only one the URL top tiers really care to battle on KOTD. Face of the franchise who can main event every card.

Tier 2 - Elite

Bender, Loe Pesci

Canada's Thesaurus/Illmac. Both basically carried the league and were considered the best in Canada/arguably top 10 doing it at their peaks (Pesci during his run through the GP + few battles after, Bender during his run to the chain + Illmac/Syd). Both of them had unique styles that they helped evolve. Great additions to any card as a segway to the main events, can main event smaller cards. At this point it's sometimes a toss up how they'll perform, but you're always guaranteed excellent material regardless, and they always got the potential to have performance of the night.

Tier 3 - Starters

Kid Twist, Osa, Sketch Menace, Hollohan, Knamelis, Chedda Cheese

Solid battlers. Some were elite at one point in time and for the most part have a classic to their name. At this point they're all pretty great additions to a mid card of a big event. With the right matchup they can main event.

Tier 4 - The Bench Skelly, Charron, Porich, Arcane, HFK, Fingaz, Madchild

These guys are good in a pinch. You're not likely to get many people super excited, but you probably won't piss people off by having them on a card. Some people will watch the battle and enjoy it for what it is, others will skip it and not mind. Most of these guys lack originality and there's battlers that do what they do much better. Rich is one of the exceptions, he's got a unique style it's just not that great at this point. Best suited for smaller cards or opening battles for the big events.

Tier 5 - Awful Tycoon Tax, 100 Bulletz, Pigsty, Wizeguy, Kaliente

A detriment to any card. Similar to the previous group they tend to lack originality and have followed some sort of blueprint to get where they are. Unlike the previous group they do this to a point it's almost offensive.

What are your thoughts on Casual's rankings? Is Pat Stay the ONLY "Top Tier" battler from Canada? Is Charron a 4th tier battler?
