Daylyt: The Dawn of a New Day

Daylyt is a very interesting case in battle rap. Some feel that he is very calculated with everything that he does. Others feel that he is doing a bunch of random foolishness in order to get attention. We’ve seen some people claim that what he is doing isn’t working since his views are not as high as some other battlers, but if you examine where Daylyt, and where he's from, it's impressive how far along he has come.

Being a resident of Irvine CA, Daylyt who grew up in the Jordan Downs Projects, home of the Grape Street Crips now lives in one of the safest cities in America (Business Insider). This dispels the notion that a gang banger from Watts will only live to see violence. One of the factors in Watts being so dangerous is the fact that there are so many different street gangs within a small radius. One of the main rivals of the Grape Street Crips have been the Bounty Hunter Bloods (one of if not the biggest blood set in L.A) and the PJ Watts Crips. If you listen to his thrid verse on his battle against rapper, Ooops you can get an idea of the environment Daylyt was raised in.

Friends dying, violence and more. He even references putting in work himself. Growing up in such a dangerous area Daylyt may not view things the way the average battle fan does. Daylyt is not the most popular battle rapper, but he is arguably maximizing how big of a name he can be within the culture. No other battlers with a similar skill set, that started after him are as popular as Daylyt. The only battler with a similar skill set who has a bigger name than daylyt, is Harlem's very own, Loaded Lux. There are multiple factors contributing to Lux being more popular than Daylyt, but the primary reason is the fact that Lux was on Smack DVD, and used this skill set first. Lux and Daylyt are a lot more alike than the average battle rap fan may realize.

Daylyt manipulates people so easily. He does the same tactics over and over, but people bite every time. Anytime something catches widespread attention, he attaches himself to it. I.E: Meek/Drake beef, Norbes getting punched, Ronda Rousy gets knocked out, Kshine/dot mob situation. He has also consistently performed antics in battles. Should anyone ever be upset with him ever again? When someone shows you what they are, shouldn't you believe them? Is it to the point that if you book, agree to battle against, or pay to see Daylyt you should understand who he is and what may happen? Are we beyond complaining about his antics? What’s your opinion on Daylyt?
